there are alot of safe places in pittsburgh. a little more info about what you want and dont want in a neighborhood would help narrow it down, but just based on you wanting to attend to community college i would suggest mexican war streets west allegheny or duetchtown as those are within walking distance to ccac on the northside

If safety is a big issue than parts of East Allegheny east of the highway and parts of Central Northside aren't the best fits... Also, it depends on what you call safe as well.

thats true everybody has a different opinion of what safe is and yes parts of east allegheny are less then desirable. the side of east allegheny closest to ccac is fine though in my opinion. I would probably choose shadyside oakland or highland park myself since all 3 are great neighborhoods and all 3 are on the 500 bus which runs through the northside close to ccac and even thats assuming the op is meaning ccac by community school

That Spotcrime site is uselessly inaccurate in my experience.

Everywhere is safe.

Everywhere is dangerous.

It all depends on the people who happen to pass through.

We really need to know exactly which community college location you are looking at. But assuming it is the CCAC in the North Side, if you don't want to look at the North Side itself (which even in the better parts is a little transitional), some nearby, affordable, and safe places to look would be Polish Hill and Millvale.

CCAC has other campuses. There is one in Plum and you could live out that way, then you would be more safe, if you are in Plum, E. Oakmont or Oakmont.
