This wasn't even that bad of a storm, yet Allegheny County seemed completely unprepared. No salt done before the storm and I saw 1 plow with a police escort on the parkway west. A plow did not touch 79 even by 9pm. Disgraceful.

As you said, it wasn't that bad a storm. No need for them to go crazy on it and send out fleets at light speed.

If they feel that way, then I expect to see a snow removal rebate when I do my taxes. If I'm paying for it, I expect it done...doesn't matter the size of the storm. I shouldn't have to die on 79 because a couple political suits think plowing tonight is no big deal and it'll get done tomorrow or whenever.

As of 1/2 hour ago (11pm), Freeport road in Harmar is untouched by a plow. However I did see a Harmar Twp. plow driving along. Was he actually plowing? NO. What are they waiting for?

I agree, the snow removal was terrible today. I was surprised at the conditions on my commute which involved route 60 and the Parkway West. My 6 mile commute home from work took over 50 minutes, and the roads were entirely snow-covered the length of the trip. These are some of the worst road conditions I can recall since I moved up here in 2006. What happened tonight?

You are 6 years old and don't live in the Burgh.

I left downtown around 7:15 or so last night. The downtown roads actually weren't all that bad. The Parkway West, while not great, was worlds better than 79. 79 should have been closed if they couldn't get to it. It was really, really dangerous.

Big thumbs down to PennDOT.

I'm pretty realistic- I don't expect my neighborhood's roads to be plowed, but I do expect to see crews at least trying to so something with the major highways. Especially when this wasn't exactly a surprise storm.

But when it's actively steadily snowing during rush hour, it's difficult for the trucks to get out there. The amount of traffic and the snow continuing to accumulate after they pass by doesn't help.
