Will be visiting Pittsburgh this summer and wonder if there is an area where you can buy alternative type clothes, funky items, vintage?

Also is there a place to buy vegan food other than whole foods and Trader Joes?

Funky clothing - Antropologie at Galleria mall. Check out their web site.

Vintage - I don't know but there has to be some on Walnut st. Oh, you may find vintage at the 2 Avalon stores in Pgh. One is in Mt. lebanon, the other in Sq. hill, I think. You can most certainly find vintage gently used, brand names (Manolos, Prada etc) Please check out their web site.

Veggies: the Strip.

For vintage, there's
Hey Betty < http://www.heybettyvintageclothing.com/ > and
Eons < http://www.yelp.com/biz/eons-fashion-antique-pittsburgh > on Ellsworth in Shadyside.
Avalon Exchange is in Squirrel Hill and Mt. Lebanon < http://www.avalonexchange.com/ >
There's a handful of other shops in Lawrenceville, too.

As to vegan food are you looking for groceries or restaurants? There was a thread last year: Vegan restaurants in pittsburgh????

You'll probably find something interesting around the South Side, Squirrel Hill, Lawrenceville, or Shadyside neighborhoods. All have interesting small stores and probably vegan restaurants. For fresh food items, check out the Strip District.

There's a fetish clothes store in Homestead on Eighth Avenue called Outer Skin and a place in Lawrenceville on Butler Street, but I forget the name.

If you are vegan, try and get to the Coop. It is a good bet.
