Not to derail this thread too much (I do not have enough posts to start a new thread on the issue) but the mention of the 75 and 93 routes helping to advance/spur gentrification has me wondering what other areas you guys think could benefit from a similar direct link to Oakland?

Being a South Hills guy, I really liked the 44U Bridgeville-Oakland route through Dormont when I lived there and went to Pitt. The only downside is that it was always packed often beyond capacity by the time it reached my stop, while the return trips against the rush were always empty, which ultimately helped lead to the demise of that route. I think a new version of that route to Mt Lebo station or the Galleria instead of Bridgeville would make it viable again.

It's also a shame the 500 and 501 have been lost, I am not familiar enough with today's system to know if any of those once-served areas still have a direct link to Oakland.

I think Hazelwood stands to benefit most and it looks like that link will eventually be made, we just don't know exactly how just yet.

So it's not like this format has to die out.
what stores are these? just curious

I was wondering that myself, the only convenience store I can think of in the 10th Ward is the Lucky Store in the 5100 block of Butler. Good place to pick up a megabucks ticket, a pack of gum or some blunts

The other terminus of the 93 is in Hazelwood. Hell, Hazelwood is soon to get a branch of the Lawrenceville French Bakery La Gourmandine, and a few new offices, so it's already begun.

Even tiny Polish Hill, with its <1,300 residents, has Alfred's Deli & Market. We're about to eat sandwiches from there now for dinner. My partner bought great pierogies there the other night.
