A new restaurant is moving into the North Shore right next to Bettis Grille and across the street from the new Stage AE. No, I'm not talking about Rivertown, which opened a while back, and no, I'm not talking about Tilted Kilt which is taking over Calico Jacks spot and is poised to open in a week or so.

So what is it? It's a Damons! Alcohol notice is hanging in the window now. I'd assume 3-4 months until opening.

This gives the 'Del Monte Center' (the building across from Stage AE) 4 restaurants now:

Rivertown
Tilted Kilt
Damons
Bettis

Color me excited since I'm not a fan of Bettis Grille and am tired of always eating at Rivertown (if you haven't guessed, I work and live in this area). There's also McFaddens and Hyde Park up the road, and a slew of restaurants on the other side of PNC Park. I'd heard rumors of a Starbucks moving into the new Hyatt, but that never materialized.

Also you may want to try (right across the freeway), Legends, Bistro To Go, Nicki's Thai, Peppi's, Max's Allegheny Tavern.

Don't complain. At least they have something. Now they could use something like a Panera's or even a few shops.

Wow, an Applebee's and a Damon's, doesn't get any better than that.

I don't buy the anti-chain sentiment. The location has local flavor in the form of Bettis Grille, a local chain in Rivertown and another fairly niche chain in Tilted Kilt. I think a Damons will fit in nicely.

It's not that it's a chain. It's that it's ... just a Damon's. Whooptidoo.

Have to agree with that. Honestly I don't know how any of those places are doing much business outside of football season. Stage AE helps I suppose.

Stage AE, two hotels, and the casino all provide moderate traffic. You also have 500+ employees in the Del Monte Center split between Del Monte, Peoples Natural Gas and FSN. Then there is another office building above Hyde Park with Starkist and other businesses totaling around 500 people, as well as all the employees at PNC Park whose offices are in the field.

I know Rivertown is typically full at lunch, and there has been a solid flow the few times I've been there at night.
