Asians are generally quite fiscally and socially conservative.

Not sure if they vote though, and not sure which party they give their votes to...but they are fiscally and socially conservative.

The theatre is now Rave Cinemas, I've been there a few times and don't recall any Bollywood movies.

It's now the Rave Motion Pictures Pittsburgh North:

Rave Motion Pictures

I guess with the closure of the Showcase West a while back they just divested this one, no more Showcase in PA. Rave seems to be acquiring misc properties scattered all over. They're probably just going to make a short run of it until Cinemark (most likely them but could be someone else) finally opens something up there in the McKnight corridor, unless they're going to put money into that building. The area is ripe for anyone who can fund a new cinema.

Couldn't find anything specific on Bollywood stuff though. There was a Hindi period piece screened at Robinson in December that came up in a search. Not sure what else.

I'm amazed that there is no big time movie theater here in the Great White North. Showcase North was good in its time, still go there in its current configuration.

I don't know if it's specifically dedicated to Bollywood/Indian films, but yeah, every so often when searching fandango or similar for movies, there will be one or two playing in the North Hills or at the Waterfront.

There is a newer, large housing plan in Upper St. Clair off of Cook School Road that has been referred to as " Little India" for years.

I wonder how many counties there are like Allegheny (the central county of a large metro) in the United States in which the Asian population (2.8%) is larger than the Hispanic population (1.6%).

The original config of Mt Nebo Pointe (off 279 at Camp Horne) included a Cinemark, but they changed it when they were able to get Sam's Club. Not sure that was the right choice really. Would've been a perfect spot for that IMO, and would have drawn perhaps real restaurants. Now all they have is a glorified strip center.

I don't bother with Showcase, haven't in years, just terrible. Even the Cranberry one is better, but from my house I can get to the modern Cinemark over by Beaver Valley Mall almost as quickly, so that's where we go.

Perhaps a new cineplex is on tap for the development by the new Lowe's?
