Sobering map showing migration patterns

Migration Patterns by County

Lots of red lines out of Allegheny County and lots of black lines into Fulton County Georgia.

Yeah but if you zoom in on the Northeast with Allegheny selected, there's still a lot of black. Pretty much the whole Philly area besides Philly. And lots of others. Seems like we're a good choice for former rural, suburban, and small city folk. With most out-migration going to the big, spread out South and West, I'd imagine that it should look worse than it actually is.

Pondering further...
How on earth did we lose people to Cleveland?
What do people from Chesapeake see in Detroit?
Why is the Rust Belt the only area moving to LA?

Surprisingly, not many people have left Michigan yet. I guess it takes time to see the writing on the wall.

We discussed that map before. Personally, I find it very difficult to work with. I also think making outmigration a vibrant color (red) and inmigration a dull color (gray) throws off the visual impression (not just for the Pittsburgh area, but everywhere).
