Regent Square and Swissvale might be collateral damage as East Liberty builds up. It is hard to say, but the people being relocated out of there have to go somewhere and I suspect Swissvale is a potential area and is a neighboring area of Regent Square. Hard to say how things will play out in this migration period, but it seems there is more action these days. I just hope someday zone 5 will be a great place to be.

Let's be honest here, Swissvale is a hell hole. The only good parts of it are those that are separated from the ghetto parts via huge roadways. I worked there for awhile and it's not a place you'd want to hang out at.

It's so bizarre how undesirable most of Swissvale is, too, considering it adjoins Regent Square, Edgewood, and Swisshelm Park, all of which are stable middle-to-upper-middle-class neighborhoods. Then again Point Breeze is surrounded by Homewood, Larimer, and Wilkinsburg, and it also remains stable.

I haven't been that way in a long time, is the Triangle Bar still there? I remember 20 years ago it was in a rough area.

Last time I checked, yes. Their subs are still gigantic.

Down the street from the Triangle Bar are abandoned houses than are falling down next to brand new section 8 houses. Next to that is another housing complex that always has police hanging out nearby. Further still is Hawkins Village, another fun place.

And some of the people who live there might even say it is very nice.

No argument here.

I really wish people wouldn't paint these complex municipalities with such a broad brush.

Maybe we should become freelance writers for the Post-Gazette. That article was not well written. The concept was good, but it was too redundant.
