Trash removal cost will vary by municipality, not county. For example, normal curbside collection of household trash and recycling within the City of Pittsburgh costs $0. That's right, free. It is included in the taxes you already pay, in other words. The only other one I'm directly familiar with is my current one. I am in Economy Borough, Beaver County, and our pickup costs a whopping $42 per QUARTER. That's just $14 per month compared with your $75. I believe some areas may be paying $30-50/month though.

Where are you paying $75/month?

Hempfield Twp., Westmoreland Co, $36.66 per quarter. Unlimited collection and 2 large items allowed per week and recycling every other week.

In the City of Pittsburgh, that's about all you get for your extra 2% wage tax and higher property taxes; free garbage collection.

I would think there would be a riot if they were trying to charge $75 per month for garbage collection in any municipality in PA. Are you sure that isn't a per quarter charge?

Actually, I've watched neighboring Marshall Township design some wacky collection stuff with Vogel that I believe at least some are paying north of $50/month for. They are provided separate rolling bins compatible with the bin-grabbing truck (so just one guy drives, but geez, it seems to take a lot longer than having a truck with a couple guys picking up regular cans). They have separate bins for recycling, yard waste, etc. and I guess you don't have to buy trash cans since these are provided. Nice, but geez. I think the cost may vary depending upon the size of the trash bin.

****, my dad used to drive a waste removal truck (Not in Pittsburgh, however) and was the only guy on the truck, without a bin-grabber. The old fashioned "Get in and out of the truck repeatedly" style.

Refuse service is included in your taxes in the city, as is professional fire, professional police, professional EMT, and the parks system.

Not everywhere. It's like that for the city. It might be like that in a few other places. But residents pay for it in most townships.

I'm in Hampton Township. My rate is $73.04/4 months. (Isn't that weird it's not per quarter?) That's $18.26/month.

Apparently not in Pennsylvania. She asked for county pricing which indicates she lives in a state with a county government structure.

Haha, yeah. They sure don't use that extra money to plow the street in front of my house, that's for sure.
