Default Just Wondering About Pitt.

Hey, I was wondering if pittsburgh is better than phila. like not just crime wise but also economy education, etc. So please leave your comments. I also want to know where the slums are in phila. because my cousin is comming over and I want to take her around the city but dont wanna worry about bad hoods. Mines pretty tough but not as bad as ive heard some others have been. Also what neighborhoods in the suburbs in pitt are the best and which are the worst, please leave a list. thanks. So leave your comments.

You'd do better to ask the Philly forum about the location of the slums there.

originally from philly area (bristol, bucks county) and can tell you that pittsburgh is far and above much better, no matter what the popular thinking is. our schools are great, lots to do with the kids, many things for free. area and the people here put kids first and it shows. crime...not much here at all, especially when compared to philly. you ask about slums, not to many areas that are considered "slums" and if they are they are nothing compared to some of the areas in philly like around the zoo, ect. had to drive through a number of those areas in philly on the way to temple hospital to visit a family member and was shocked at how bad some of the neighborhoods have gotten. traffic...laugh when locals complain because they just don't know what "traffic" is, only probs usually around the tunnels. road rage....none encountered in my 15 years here. slower paced, but a welcomed change. people are not on top of each other, plenty of open space, lot sizes much larger and housing much cheaper. in a nut shell....loving it! sometimes there are things back in philly we miss but when we go back we always end up saying it is a nice place to visit but we would not want to live back there!

I agree with Rosekatherine about Philly, I've been working in center city for 14 years and even though my head sees a sespool(sp?) I'm trying to see a flower garden, because for the time being I'm stuck here.
