Default Opinions of Shadyside?

I recently saw an apartment managed by Walnut Capital on Elmer Street in Shadyside and I noticed that it was 2 blocks from Walnut Street and Elmer Street intersects with Bellefonte Street. Can any one tell me if this area is considered a safe area? Would it be safe to walk around here at night if I was walking back to here from the University of Pittsburgh in Oakland?
If there is crime where I will be living, what should I mainly be concerned about? I will not have a car, and so car theft will not be a problem. I really liked this apartment I saw, but I wanted to be sure that it was safe before I took it. Thanks.

Two blocks away in which direction? Why not just give us the nearest intersection? Not that it matters, the general area is safe for more than two blocks in either direction of the area you described. I just thought I'd point out that your location wasn't really specific. That area has the same type of crime as the rest of Shadyside. You can find some stats here to give you an idea: Part One: Pittsburgh neighborhood crime statistics

The apartment I am looking at is on Elmer Street and it is located right on the corner of Elmer Street and Bellefonte Street. To the left of my apartment(2 blocks away) is Walnut Street. Also near my house is a place called William Penn Tavern and a restaurant called Pizzutti's I think? There is a bus stop located about a block or two from my apartment, perhaps on Ellsworth I think? I hope that this clears things up! Thanks

shadyside is a terrible ghetto filled with all sorts of unthinkable city things...you'd be much better off living on a cloud!

Use the search you'll find out plenty about shadyside and it's awesomeness

Proto's being sarcastic.

Shadyside is one of Pittsburgh's best city neighborhoods.

You will find many, many posts and threads about the area in this forum if you use the search feature.

It's one of the most highly recommended places to live.

Obviously there will be some crime (it is a city after all), but from what I have experienced Shadyside is one of the safest Neighborhoods in Pittsburgh. I have walked around it by myself at night many times and have always been OK.
