Exclamation How's the area below the Mckee's Rock Bridge? (hamilton st)

Looking to buy a house... however, I don't want to deal with A. Flooding and B. Have to worry about walking around at night. Is there a lot of "gansters" around this area? Seems pretty close to the bad parts of mckees rock. What would it be like at 2am on a Friday?

As always thanks in advance.

That is the neighborhood of McKees Rocks known as "The Bottoms." It is a declined and deteriorated area, however, not particularly unsafe. There are, however, some public housing projects down there, so take that for what it's worth. Whenever I have been down there, it has been very quiet. The population is a mix of old-timers, yinzers, and the poor.

"The Bottoms" flooded in the 1930s, and may have flooded since.

If you are worried about the "bad parts" of McKees Rocks, I probably wouldn't recommend this area. Not because it's that bad, but because the whole area is declined, and there aren't many neighborhoods that are better or worse than others. The "good areas," if I had to pick, would be the part of West Park (in Stowe) close to Kennedy and the part of McKees Rocks west of Broadway.

Flooding is certainly a possibility in the McKees Rocks Bottoms that you need to be aware of- they have had catastrophic floods in the past.

But on the positive side, the flood wall on River Road has been pretty effective in preventing this kind of event from coming down in recent years.

The Bottoms aren't dangerous, but they are long term economically depressed and they don't have a lot of commerce in the area. Even much of the industry in the area has closed up certainly since I worked down there in the 1970s.

The main activity nowadays it seems is the ecclessiastic district on Munson Ave and Helen St and its half dozen large and impressive looking churches.

Correct me if I'm wrong because Idk McKees Rocks very well but the area on both sides of Cariters Ave & the area West of Rangers field/ south of the bridge is the bad part. But any way part of McKees Rocks is where the Goons claim turf but that's all they do. They only seem to mess with the other people in the bad crowd...
Part of McKees Rocks is bad but not that bad.

Hey correct me if I'm wrong, but the buildings two streets west of Rangers Field, off Robb St are section 8 group housing/housing projects??? If so, their not as imfamous as the ones across the street from the Police Station which seem to be a strong hold for criminal activity...

I'm not sure if they are housing projects or not, but they certainly look like they might be.
