My wife and I were living in Manhattan for five years but recently moved here. I'm originally from Westmoreland County and I convinced my wife, who is from NJ, to move here. And she is loving it as much as I am.
We bought a great house for 385k and we have an amazing street that sits off any big roads, so that's great. And the people around here are as nice as I remember, and my wife can't believe how nice people are.
I know many people complain about traffic and a congested area around here, but I guess it's all relative. Coming from NYC, and NJ for two years before that, this place is a breeze. I wouldn't even consider it heavy traffic.
We are 10 minutes from all the shopping, 15 minutes to the city, and 15 minutes to the airport, yet we have deer and turkey on the hillside behind our house. I mean, how can you beat all of that?
Anyway, I read a lot of people on here that are moving into the area and wonder if they'll like it, and I hear many residents complain a lot about it, so I just wanted to say for the record, that I'm absolutely loving it here, and unless I come into big money and can live on the ocean in Maine, or something like that, I expect to be happy here for the rest of my life. Robinson Township rocks.
So glad to hear positive news - When we get back up to visit (I grew up in North Fayette Township) - we stay at the Holiday Inn-Robinson and always enjoy it (convenient, etc.).
I am a happy resident of Robinson Township since 2004.

yet we have deer
My wife isn't too happy with that since they eat the flowers she plants. Although after a few different methods and three years of testing we have greatly reduced the carnage by setting up an array of ScareCrow automatic sprinklers.
Sometimes it takes a newcomer to open our eyes and appreciate what we have. We always complain about traffic and congestion, but compared to the Eastern Seaboard, we have it good. Overall, the quality of life is very high here and we should be grateful for that.

Bow and arrow or crossbow. Problem solved and good eats.
Robinson Township has sure changed over the years, I can see why some of the old timers out there complain- it was a lot less hectic 30 years ago without the Robinson Towne Center, the Pointe and Kohls and the car dealer and Settlers Ridge.

Old-timers in Pittsburgh complain about any change. Our area doesn't have it half as bad as other large cities. We still have plenty of quiet and rural places to live here.
