They actually had a problem in Philly recently with flash mobs going from the whimsical to the violent.

Well I'm actually planning one for May 19th...May is National Foster Care Awareness Month and we are flash mob dancing on the steps of the City-County Building on Grant St. This is a Flash Mob dance sponsored by CASA of Allegheny County (The Forgotten Child Campaign*|*Help a child in foster care!) and the Allegheny County Department of Human Services. We've had 2 rehearsals so far and we anticipate having 50+ dancers!

Please come, with cell phones in hand, and support us! The goal is to draw attention to all of the ways the public can help kids in the system. There will be a rally following. The flash mob starts at noon. We still need dancers and we have 1 more practice before the rally!

How perfect is this!? SCR, you have your chance to be in a flash mob and you don't even have to do the work of organizing it. Be sure to post the video after it's over and tell us which one of the dancers you are. Hey, if you can wear a t-shirt that says city-data that would be a fun shout-out to all your cd friends.

There was just another flash mob today in front of the City-County Building along Grant Street. Meh. I concur now that they seem to be overdone, at least in Pittsburgh.
