Musical influences in Pittsburgh - mostly a rock-n-roll town? (Clark: credit, stations)

Honestly, those genres are in the same niche level as punk and psychobilly around here it seems. I check concert lists all the time and it's rare to see anyone in those genres come here.

WYEP is the main station for those. The Avett Bros., Wilco, Old 97s, Mumford, Son Volt, Stev Earle, Low Anthem, Okkervill River, get airplay on that station and do pretty well here. Wilco sold out last year and the Avett Bros. come here frequently. Steve Earle returns to Greensburg in August. Old 97s come by frequently as well. The Low Anthem just played Brillobox and Earle, Son Volt and Old 97s played Hartwood Acres two years ago

And I hate how they call The X "alternative." They play Metallica, Danzig and Pantera and they are metal, NOT alternative!

I also had no idea the aribitration ratings covered public radio, "outlying" stations and WV stations.

Surprising thing to me on that list is the fall of KDKA. Been a while since they were #1, but they were still consistently #2 to DVE up until fairly recently.

That's not really anything to do with music, though, since KDKA doesn't play music. I haven't turned to regular radio for music in ages. Too many commercials anyway. YEP is not bad sometimes but they have generally had a format that makes sure there is this many of xyz genre every hour and so forth. Plus weekends, when I would be most likely to listen, they have too many special hours of stuff that I am not into. I used to have Sirius, but I've ditched even that now in favor of all Pandora, all the time.
