I had a strange, seemingly pissed-off bus driver yesterday. Even though someone had hit the ringer, and the "stop requested" light was on, and four people were standing there waiting to get off the bus, she tried NOT to stop at the Centre and Negley bus stop yesterday. The only thing that kept her from turning onto Centre instead of stopping at the bus stop was the red light. I screamed at her, "Can we get OFF the bus?" Finally she stopped the bus and opened the door. Weird. Very weird bus driver yesterday.

Thanks. Even if they did before, it seemed that that it wasn't publicized about it very much.

A friend of mine that used to live in Blawnox, said the bus drivers would occasionally skip his stop even though people were waiting in plain site. I also was on a bus that took River Road, which wasn't on the route. Some wild stuff does go on. Some drivers do make over $80K with overtime. PAT is so well run.

Does anybody seriously think Gov. Corbett will care about what people like Mayor Ravenstahl or County Executive Fitzgerald have to say?

No, but he should. It would make him look bad if he doesn't work with local officials.

It doesn't matter whether they do or no....Point is they need to be out in front showing the Public that they are fight for them (a rally the troops type moment)...doing nothing and hiding under the desks at city hall makes the public think you couldn't give 2 Sh*ts about whether PAT goes belly up and people's jobs become jepordized....

The Media needs to keep the fire on Harrisburg too, Pittsburgh's media has a tendency to let critical issues burn out from the headlines....PG is pretty good about staying on top of important local stories but the TV News has a terrible reputation of letting stories burn out.

I wanted to rep you but couldn't. That is the main point people are missing. They should be out there speaking up for what is important to thier constituents.

The curse of our times. The PG is the only serious large-circulation MSM organ with an independent editorial policy in greater Pgh. There is a fairly impressive local blogosphere, but IMO net-based journalism in Pgh hasn't attained the ability to move opinion on a politically-significant scale.

PA is famously bi-polar, and out here at the western pole reporting on state affairs is very thin - which is no doubt one of the reasons why the Gen Ass has survived in its pathetic state for so long, and also one of the reasons PAT is in such a fix. This state would benefit enormously from some sustained, serious and accessible politically commentary focused on Harrisburg, a la HuffPost or Drudge. Or perhaps Hogarth would be more to the point.
