I always thought that Greensburg had a lot of potential. I haven't been there in a few years but you could always see how it had been a nice little town/small city and wouldn't take that much work to bring it back.

I saw Allison Krauss there and it was a nice venue for a good show. I think the town of Greensburg and surrounding area is very pretty.

I have seen many. many concerts at the Palace.

The three that were most memorable were:
Joe Bonamassa
Ian Anderson doing acoustic Tull
Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience

I've wanted to see Social Distortion when they came to the Palace the one year but I didn't get a chance to. Testament and Exodus were also there the one year. Of course, the Palace isn't the only place to see shows in Greensburg. There's also a new venue/bar that just opened recently and caters more to the rock crowd. It's called 42nd Street Rock House and it's located near the Greengate Walmart along Route 30. They have the Misfits in line for an October appearance and the band Ratt is also scheduled.

The Greensburg area has a ton of potential. I think that it unique in that it provides both sides of the coin for people. Greensburg proper is a dense old-school town with sidewalks, a large centralized business district with lots of mom-and-pops, great old architecture, etc. The surrounding township of Hempfield is rural-turning-suburban with lots of cul-de-sacs and subdivisions and has big box stores, chain restaurants, and the local mall.

One can live on a suburban cul-de-sac, but drive into town and park and walk from the library to the post office to the bank to the playground, etc., and then hit up Target or Sam's Club on the way home.

It is also interesting to note that the local governments recognize this relationship and the two municipalities work together in terms of planning (Planning Commission - Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County PA).

In addition to Seton Hill, The Westmoreland Cultural Trust and the Greensburg Community Development Corp. are helping to try to steer Greensburg in the right direction and provide growth in all sectors.

If Greensburg could make use of its existing Amtrack station and rails and provide a commuter rail to Pittsburgh, that would be HUGE in terms of growth. I was shocked to learn that there wasn't one. The Pennsylvanian, which runs from Pittsburgh to Philly passes through twice a day, but in the reverse direction that one would want for a daily commute to Pittsburgh.

Does the restaurant/brewery still exist in the Greensburg train station? I remember going there when I first moved to PA and would go driving around a lot.

That closed and is now The Supper Club.

Interior totally redone. Margaritas not quite the same, so say my tequila-lovin' friends....
