My grandmother always liked Del's, but then she passed in 1968.

I guess they were unable to impress the new generation.

Also just saw via social media that Tamari in Lawrenceville is going out of business, too. They are closing next Saturday.

aggh - really. I seriously like some of the food there. It's a fickle business, the restaurant business.

May have to make an effort to call in there in the next week.

Indeed (if by "Waaaaaaaaah!" what you mean is IAFT).

I was reading from the bottom up, and I thought for a moment you were talking about Del's. Mea culpa.

Not major news, but I thought I'd say the following.

First, Casa Rasta in East Liberty has reformatted their menu. They used to serve the same stuff as in Beechview, but now have a much smaller menu. Honestly, I don't think we'll be coming back. They dropped their kids menu, cut down the menu size considerably, and dropped a bunch of vegetarian/vegan options (no more jerk tofu!).

Also, as an aside, since moving to Morningside I tried Smiling Banana Leaf a few times. Given the rave reviews the place had on this site, I've been very underwhelmed with everything. it's nowhere near as good as Nicky's, which is clearly the best Thai place in the city.

If we can't get a bus or bike or walk, it don't happen, I'm afraid. Something new and fab will emerge that will quickly take up our attention. It's just the way life is ...

The SBL has gone way downhill in the past 2-3 years. I think they got new ownership or something, because the same exact dishes they used to serve are far less flavorful and have a much less appealing texture than they did when I first went there. I am sad about this. Anyone know more?

This is pretty much exactly the problem I have with the food. Nothing really tastes like anything. I like spicy food, and it has heat if you order it spicy, but no flavor whatsoever.
