I agree with you too! I have lived in the LA area since 1977, and I miss PA in the spring, summer and fall, but not the winter.

Yeah, I sort of miss the football autumns too. The deep South loves football but it's too warm. PA Spring is good too because you can really smell the spring air as the flora burst from its hibernation. Atlanta has four seasons but they are not as distinct. I know it can be hot in the North in Summer but it's more brutal in the South. It can be unrelenting whereas you can count on Northern evenings to cool things down.

Fall is the best season of the year in the South: highs in the 70's, lows in the 50's, dry air, and very little precipitation.

When I first left I didn't miss it at all. Now I miss it quite a lot, but it's not there anymore.

Spring in the South can be scary however.

I'd always wanted to move back -- I missed Pittsburgh lots, and coming home on vacations made it worse in some ways......

But in reality, I missed my family -- especially my mom. My urge to move back to Pittsburgh has dimmed since losing her last year. Although it could be grief.

I'd still like to be within driving distance of my family, rather than flying -- if I never get on a plane again I will be happy.

I think that you miss people the most, though I also miss certain places and features of the area.

I never had a strong urge to move back, but thought about it a lot more when my parents were alive. Now, most of my family members there, including my brother, are getting old! If I move again, it will be to be near one of my kids, but they both live here in CO right now.

I think we have an infrequent poster here living in Phoenix. I heard they hit 118 and had conditions been a bit different they could have hit 120. I'm sure memories of Pittsburgh must have been better today.

I believe you may have misunderstood my intention. It wasn't to stir any pot. I struggle with this issue, which is why I purposely came to the Pittsburgh forum to see if any other former Western PA'ers have experienced what I'm feeling.
