Dozen Bake Shop to hold farewell bake sale today

People put wall comments on their FB page, and they were all deleted. The sister of one of the owners kept having emotional fits, telling people that their deposits don't matter because they have it worse. People aren't getting money back if they don't want Dozen's choice of a referral bakery. With their attitude, not returning an artist's artwork, (the artist was told that her piece was missing) and their not returning money when asked, I say good riddance. Let others have a sad pity party. I'd rather not have such lousy shady dealings going on.

I wish I would have taken some screen shots of the **** that was going down on their FB page. It was awful. They've closed wall posts, and deleted non pitying comments now. What a shame.
however they're dealing with deposits for special orders, it's pretty tacky that they announced their closing by making a "farewell bake sale" facebook event without notifying customers with advance orders first. some woman posted on there on friday freaking out because her wedding was saturday and she didn't know if she'd get her order (they told her she would). really bad handling of the situation there, and they totally brought the facebook mess on themselves.

i've also heard uniformly terrible things from employees about what it's like to work there. and i'll be very surprised if current employees get non-bouncy last paychecks, if they get paychecks at all.

someone who went told me the bake sale had cupcakes for $2 instead of $2.50. whatta deal.

it's unfortunate to see a local business going under but i'm not really a fan of dozen.

I have a friend who used to be employed by this company, and she said the owners weren't very business-savvy and didn't even consider cost of goods sold when considering ordering new ingredients or products. When I first moved here a City-Data member recommended this bakery to me as an employment spot, but after hearing such horror stories from employees I'm glad I found something else.

I'm sure they are nice guys and wish them all the luck in thier future endeavors. I think they probably had an idea and didn't know what they got themselves into, which lead to them getting in over thier heads in debt and was overwhelmed by it all.

nice guys don't treat there customers and employees like trash! Not letting people know about wedding an other special order cakes, and turning them over to another bakery with no choice is not nice. Not returning a Artist work and saying oh we lost it and don't have the money to pay you for it is not nice!

Greed is gross and karma is a beee otch and that is why they are really closing.

All righty then.
Did you get ripped off or something? You seem to be taking this a bit too personal.

regardless! you don't do that Shyte to people! It's bad enough that people are struggling to make ends meet. Stealing someones Art work and claiming it was lost and not wanting to pay the person for their work is not right. Lot of people supported this local mom and pop shop and made them rich enough to move to chicago show them respect.
