Then tell them you live in Kennedy Township? How often do you have to give your address out, really? Even when you do, it's probably to a phone representative or a receptionist or something, not exactly the demographic that will judge you for living in McKees Rocks.

That sounds like you have some issues you need to work through. It's just a mailing address.

I really don't think it matters much as long as you have the right zip code.

The only time it might be a problem is if there are duplicate addresses in the towns covered by the same zip.

Both Sharpsburg and Aspinwall for example both have numbered streets as well as the same zip.

OMG, I would hate to live in Kennedy and have McKees Rocks as my zip. I can so relate, dude. I live in the Towne of McCandless, the Great White North and yet I have to put Gibsonia as my zip. Gibsonia!!! People in West Deer have the same address, and they don't have indoor plumbing. It's an outrage. My brother has the same problem, lives in Upper St. Clair and has to put down Pittsburgh as a return address. My butler lives in Ohio Township and his zip is Sewickley, that's just not right.

Oh, the humanity.

Just write "Kennedy Twp." down on your outgoing correspondence. I don't see what's so complicated about that. I grew up in Pittston Twp., PA, which shared its zip code with Pittston, PA, which was a pretty run-down and very undesirable community. We always put "Pittston Twp., PA" down on our outgoing correspondence.

Do a little experiment, kiddies. Send yourself a letter with just your street address and zip code, trust me, you'll get the letter.

All addresses within the 152 prefix can be addressed as Pittsburgh and that is, in fact, the primary city name. For mostly historical reasons another locality name may be legal for any given ZIP+4. For those who are interested visit https://tools.usps.com/go/ZipLookupAction!input.action and play around. For instance 15218 is Pittsburgh or Swissvale, 15232 is Pittsburgh or Shadyside.

Sorry, Edgewood, but "Edgewood, PA" is not a legal locality (but as Copanut says your mail will get there anyway).

The actually city on the mailing address doesn't much matter. Zip codes tell the USPS exactly where the package is going, what post office.
