Wigle Whiskey brings distillation back to Pittsburgh

They should be ready to sell in the fall. Then you'll be able to get local whiskey and local vodka (Boyd and Blair, distilled in Shaler for the past few years).

I like the idea of using it as a Whiskey Rebellion museum.

I also like they are doing both rye and wheat, and also unaged versions of both.

I wish the local vodka was more reasonable. It does have a pretty interesting flavor, but out of my price range for a vodka. If I am spending that, I am looking a single malt's.

Yeah. We bought the Boyd and Blair a couple times, but it's too pricey. And heck, it's not like we were typically drinking it straight so it's being mixed which is kind of a waste. For mixing vodka drinks, just get Smirnoff.

I'm not big into the rye and similar whiskeys like this myself, but I'll be interested to try it anyway. The wheat sounds a little more uncommon. And yeah, maybe the price point won't be so high.

Next up, maybe someone will make gin. (That should be easy, really. The vodka guys should make gin.)

What I like most though generally is tequila. That wouldn't be too practical to make here. (They also couldn't call it tequila, although there is at least one place out in the western US, Utah or Colorado I think, that is distilling an agave-based spirit which if made in the right part of Mexico would otherwise be called tequila.)

Yeah I'm not usually a big vodka person. I especially won't pay out the @ss for it.
