Default EPA issuing new emissions rules for oil/gas wells

Here is the article:

EPA proposes new emissions rules

In a nutshell, the rules would reduce emissions by requiring drillers to use existing technologies. As a side benefit, these technologies collectively help increase the amount of gas produced, which is part of why some companies are using them already.

Personally, I think these are welcome efforts. We've discussed the air quality issues in the region before, and minimizing the impact of gas drilling on air quality is a good idea. It also makes gas a more competitive energy source from a global warming perspective (escaped gases can cut back significantly on what otherwise are large benefits from using gas instead of petroleum and coal).

Default ....

Moderator cut: orphaned, the post you were quoting was removed

Back to the topic, read that article too, Brian. Seems as though this tech. already exists and it does increase production from the well so it should offset the increased costs, somewhat.

On a related topic, it seems as though Corbett may be softening his stance on a "fee" for drilling which I think is good.
