The bottom line is that 1413 and 1423 Boyle Street (two Victorian row-homes scheduled to be demolished by the city) have been spared demolition. The CNNC is looking for new owners for these homes who can renovate them. Unfortunately, 1417 Boyle St. was lost in the battle. It was demolished a couple weeks ago. That's still a major improvement over the initial plan.

Great News! It drives me crazy when the city just randomly demolishes houses that fit the urban grid so well (rowhouses in particular) instead of making an effort to sell them off, when many of the houses around them are in the process of being fixed up.

Then all that is left is an ugly hole that looks much worse than if they had just left the building alone in the first place.

Did CNNC purchase those two homes? Or are they just facilitating the sale somehow?

I believe the CNNC is purchasing the homes from their actual owners (not the city). And then they will be selling them to owners who can rehab the houses (much like the ones that were recently sold and rehabbed across the street, although I'm not sure if the CNNC had any hand in that).

I'm very pleased that two of the houses were saved, and I feel like spreading awareness on my blog really made a difference in getting these historic homes saved from demolition. So I'm going to keep the blog going big time.
