Bellevue/Brighton heights
Quick question: I know that the North S ide bleeds into brighton heights/Bellevue. But I am not sure exactly WHERE. I am considering a property located HERE:
500 Bascom Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15212, USA - Google Maps
Would you consider this a "safe" area? Thanks all! I'm sorry about all the questions and I appreciate all the responses that I have gotten so far.
Michael

I just happened to drive all around in that area recently when looking for a house (I chose one further up the hill on Observatory Hill near Riverview Park), and I would say this is a safe area, though it's a little remote feeling, very hilly, and maybe a bit "Appalachian" in feel. Generally, I found Bellevue/Brighton Heights to feel safe, but also very working class and provincial.

That is Ross Township - right near the line. It is safe.

Would that make it 1% wage tax or the City's 3%? Thank you SO much for the helpful answers!
I get nervous, and I am going to have to most likely rent sight-unseen due to health issues keeping me from traveling there in advance. As most Pittsburghers know, the BEST way to rent in PGH is to drive down streets looking for "For Rent" signs. Hard to do 1200 miles away... :-(

If you're in Brighton Heights, it's the 3% wage tax. Your transfer taxes are also going to be higher since you're in 'city' limits. I'm not sure if Ross Twp is the same. We just bought a house in Brighton Heights and are very excited to be in the area - if you're still looking that is!

When I lived in Bellevue 5-8 yrs ago, I used to go to Giant Eagle supermarket located at the intersection of Bascom Ave and Brighton Rd. To your advantage, it would be very convenient, about 0.3 mile from that address. One of the larger supermarket in the area, it draws pretty much everybody within 3 miles radius to shop there.
Allegheny County Assessment website lists the address in North Hill school district (Ross township), so it's definitely 1% wage tax.
EDIT: I just realized it's a year-old question. Oh well.
