I'd definitely be interested in pursuing a unit there. Thanks for posting this article.

They've been talking about this project for at least a few months, and it is nice to see it moving ahead. In fact it seems like a no-brainer to me, since the Cork Factory is perpetually full.

Must not be where I'm thinking of then. There's a fairly recently cleared space up by Smallman, but I think that might be the next block over, between 25th and 26th. Hm.

Any idea how expensive the units will be? It sounds like it might be pricey, but that's just a guess.

From another article:

Cork Factory project gets $1 million loan from redevelopment group - Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

Quote:
The project on 3.76 acres of vacant property along Railroad Street between 24th and 25th streets is a continuation of the upscale Cork Factory project built by the same developers, and includes 96 units that will rent for, on average, $1,026 a month for a studio to $2,064 a month for a two-bedroom apartment.
That's pretty expensive by general Pittsburgh standards, but in line with the Cork Factory's pricing:

I'm glad to see these sorts of projects going forward despite the overall national economy. They aren't cheap, especially by Pittsburgh standards, but it just shows the strength of our economy and the demand that it drives.

Personally I'm happy in my quiet little neighborhood for half the price

The Cork Factory usually has a waiting list to rent apartments (essentially a negative vacancy rate) so obviously someone doesn't think that it's too expensive.
