Am I the only one seeing a huge increase in the out of state license plates in the area? They're from everywhere---almost every state. Not just driving down the road but in the store parking lots. When I see Texas, I think gas drilling. But I'm also seeing many license plates from states that wouldn't be associated with the gas industry. We must be getting a huge influx of people into the area for a variety of reasons.

Noticing a looot of out-of-state plates on this half of the state too when I go to my parent's in the Allentown/Bethlehem area. I was thinking about this a couple of weeks ago actually, I generally see a lot of them when I'm headed back to Philly because I usually take the turnpike/76/95 all of which have travelers from all over, but I've seen a huge amount plates from all over the place in my hometown the past couple of months.

Having deja vu on this. I swear we had a discussion not too long ago, maybe not in its own thread. The ones that strike me as unusual are the OR/WA which I have seen a fair amount of more recently. Plenty of TX which doesn't really strike me as strange anymore.

Possibly, although I never trust my own sense on this (e.g., it is entirely possible I am just noticing them more).

Still, there are other indications we may have gotten a serious influx of new people during the recession, so I wouldn't rule it out.

I work in Oakland, so usually when I see an influx of out-of-state plates it means that school's back in session.

Yeah, being in the East End makes this harder to detect, but I could swear I have seen more out of state license plates in places like Monroeville too (subject to the qualification above that I don't really trust myself entirely on this issue).
