Work seems to have come to a halt on the lot where the SS Aldi is supposed to be built. Same can be said for the apartment conversion of the adjacent old Goodwill corporate building. Anyone have insight on this? Maybe another example of a developer running out of cash?

A neighbor filed an appeal to the zoning board hearing that ALDI's won. A deal has been worked out with that neighbor and work should begin this fall.

OK. The South Sids has many businesses. Why would a neighbor appeal an Aldis?

They saw an opportunity to make some money and cut a deal with Aldi's. They wanted Aldi's to buy them out and Aldi's was saying no so they wouldn't set a precedent. A deal was made that included relocation costs and all of that stuff. The resident won out.

Seems the residents like the Giant Eagle monopoly. Did they really win?

I just think it's wierd that she would worry about Aldi's as opposed to having more bars open up.

Interesting. Is there a public record of the settlement?
