I will be coming to Pittsburgh for the Steelers/Ratbirds game in November. I completely forgot the fact that a majority of the hotels downtown would be booked up. Going on various reservation sites just confirmed that fact.

I will be taking Megabus and not driving.

My question is are there are any hotels closeby....where I can take transit from downtown to the hotel?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

After the North Shore and Downtown, you can look at the Station Square, South Side, and Oakland hotels--it isn't hard to get from those places to the stadium without a car.

Hotels in Shadyside and Bakery Square would not be bad options either. I wonder if bed and breakfast style places are a better bet this late in the game since they are less likely to be listed on travel sites. Places like the Paradoor Inn or the Inn on the Mexican War Streets might still have an opening and are walking distance to Heinz Field.

You can test public transit availability by using Google Transit with the hotel's address.

The Priory maybe. A friend of mine stayed there when he was in from Chicago for work. Don't know how much it costs, though . . .

The hotels in Greentree are an option, too. Several are on buslines, and also have shuttles that would take you to the game.

Thanks! I was able to book a reservaton at The Priory, and I now have a good list of alternatives to the chain hotels for future trips to Pittsburgh.

I really love the Inn on Mexican War Street. There were no vacancies though for the dates I needed. Paradoor was also booked up.

That should work well, and it is also very close to where Megabus drops off--anyway, enjoy your visit!

A female friend and I stayed at The Priory while vacationing in Pittsburgh several years ago on our Spring Break. We really loved it.
