Finally move in day is here...well rather its here on Sunday. I am arriving into Pittsburgh either Saturday veeery late or Sunday am....I am wondering how parking works in Pitt specially for a 12 foot Truck that I am driving. I am moving into Bloomfield and want to prevent tickets and such. Thanks!

Yikes! Parking in Bloomfield can be tricky, even with cars. As I recall you need parking permits for the street you live on. I imagine they may make short term exceptions for a u-haul though if you can find a place on your street. The streets are very narrow in some areas of Bloomfield.

Smile Understanding People

From what I've seen and experienced, people are pretty understanding about moving trucks and how you can't really park them in a totally convenient place.

Just try not to block a street too much and don't take all day to unload and you should be okay. Do you have any help? Since you're a chick, I bet some lonely yinzer will ask you if you need some. Maybe love will bloom!

Good luck!

Im almost to Pitt and will be arriving tomorrow. Loading the truck took about 1 hour w. a super wonderful guy who was very efficient. Seeing how tomorrow it will be my sister, myself, my landlord and her 3 kids it might take us 2-3 hours but I dont think longer. I dont have a permit. Where can I get one for tomorrow? Oy tomorrow is Sunday, it might be hard. Maybe i can park at some parking ramp or something? Thoughts?

Don't worry about it. Your landlord will be able to best advise you.

You won't need a permit for a U-haul. As somebody said above, people are very understanding and realize that a 12 ft u-haul is a VERY temporary situation!

Let us know how it worked out! I think you'll love Bloomfield. I really enjoyed my time there. The convenience and uniqueness of the bloomfield/friendship area makes it one of the better city neighborhoods in my opinion. That is one of the first places that I am taking my friend to visit when we arrive home in October!
