What a pathetic article, but I would expect nothing less from that media source.

Murphy worked very hard to get businesses here. I know first hand and believe me he was aggressive at it. Luke doesn't have those tools, which are needed.

Murphy strikes me as one of those high-highs/low-lows types. I appreciate some of the things he did, but other things he did were really foolish, and I am not sure the City should be seeking out another such Mayor at this time.

working very hard doesn't mean he was a good mayor; after all, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. murphy seems out of touch with reality, God knows how bad downtown would be today if he'd had his way

Provide an example. Seeing you are from Philly, I can tell you one of the places Murphy got going was where the Finnigan's Wake is, was all Murphy. He also had a goal of connecting all the bike paths and did a very good job getting that going.

I really don't remember him being a bad guy, and he was a hard worker.

Well this, for one, would've sucked.

In 1997, Arthur Ziegler, founder and head of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation, was vigorously leading the opposition to a plan by then-Mayor Tom Murphy to demolish 64 historic buildings in five square blocks of the city’s downtown in order to build a standard enclosed shopping mall.
Here's a summary of the proposal: The Downtown Planning Collaborative.

And he also deserves part of the blame for the demise of the Spine Line and the resulting alignment of the NSC.

Anyway, Market Square has recently fared quite well, so it's good that it wasn't leveled. Also, some credit for recent successful projects should be given to URA director, Rob Stephany.

Yeah, Murphy's Downtown mall plan and his role in the NSC are two of the top things I would name.

He also blew a bunch of money on the utterly failed Lazarus and Lord & Taylor deals, the latter of which also ended up trashing a great building interior for absolutely no purpose.

Others will disagree, but I also think all the public subsidies for the new stadiums that he arranged was money ill-spent.

I remember hearing about Jack Wagner considering a mayoral run a few months ago. Is he definitely running or still on the fence?

On the fence.

Peduto is in for sure with Lamb thinking about it as well.
