Omg My husband and I love victorian homes so we will look into that thank you...
Whelp, you can't go wrong with Sewickley. It is EASILY one of the most popular and beautiful places for such homes and the school district is EASILY one of the best in western PA. Zip code 15143! Good luck!
My boyfriend recommended Belleview, he said there are some nice Victorian homes there, as well, and they go to North Hills, another very good school. Zip code 15202.

This is just one person's opinion, but my niece found Wexford to be a very "Stepford Wives" type place. Lots of SAHMs who look down on working moms, etc. Plus she said everyone had family within 5 miles and was not interested in making new friends. I found it quite pretty in the fall, but I have never lived there.

If you are relocating from SoCal, I would definitely recommend an exploratory trip before committing.

North Allegheny (Allison Park area) used to be a good school district and Allison Park has some very nice homes. And this is coming from a guy who grew up in Glenshaw and went to Shaler!

But, I must say.... I really liked Sewickly. Too expensive for my parents though.

I noticed that everyone is shying away from city neighborhoods in their responses. I guess it had something to do with school districts. Still, I would not rule out Squirrel Hill or a Shadyside or even upstart Regent Square. Isn't Taylor Allderdice one of the best city schools? That would be the above neighborhoods' school district. There are some beautiful homes in beautiful walkable neighborhoods with nice business districts. Who knows? Maybe they can afford a private school with the money saved in the move.

Well, at this point I am shying away from any response at all because the original thread is almost two years old (I have no idea why mahan54 bumped it).
