That is how I was trying to write my many posts defending the fact that I am not a Nazi, skinhead or whatever else people that feel since I said there isn't a 10% population of Jewish people in Fox Chapel I must be anti-Semite. To be quite honest, I am still in shock at the responses I have gotten over me saying that. Goodness, is reverse prejudice that wildly out of control, to not be able to state some stat, that I felt is correct? Wow! What I found most interesting is how so many people went wild over my thoughts on a demographic opinion and that so many felt I was putting some religion down because how dare I feel there may be less than 10% in my neighborhood. Truly that was one wild ride, but educational about how people will go to any lengths in making sure no one would ever think they would side with a majority person. Always side with a so-called minority because they are so oppressed. Seems we are still living in the '30's or 40's? One would think in this day and age you would be allowed to have an opinion on a demographic without people going crazy, but clearly one cannot!

I also find it remarkable that so many posters can find fault with the opinions that you express concerning race and ethnicity over a wide variety of threads and that you consistently express surprise that your views are being taken that way. One would think the sheer number of objections to your posts would give you pause, but I guess that's too much to ask.
You wonder why in this day and age you can't offer your ill-conceived stereotypes on a public forum without being criticized? Really?
Oh, and please continue with the self-congratulatory martyr schtick, it makes me laugh every time.

Some people just can't handle the truth.
Curtis is either a raging troll or profoundly stupid. Then again, why not both?

I thought for a while that "he" might be an art project or something from an individual or group looking to inarticulately trot out dated ideas and conceptions in an attempt to mock them. I don't think that anymore.

I disagree with the OP and then get called a Nazi and anti-Semite. I am the person that people are attacking? Guess the Jewish people are still considered very oppressed and need to be coddled. Sorry, I had no idea. In that case, whatever the OP says is great. I need to be very encouraging I guess and be very careful not to offend. This place needs to grow a set for goodness sake!
I stand by my statement. I highly doubt FC area has 10% or more as you wish!

My two cents:
I think it is perfectly understandable if a Jewish person or family wants to live in an area where there are other Jews.
It's the same thing with gay people looking for a neighborhood that is "gay friendly."
This doesn't mean it has to be an "enclave" or a "ghetto" (the original word for a walled in district Medieval Jews were forced to inhabit) ... just a place where folks from this community would not be the only one.
For one thing, maybe you just want to be not too far from a good Kosher Deli when you need a fantastic hot pastrami on seeded rye! Or perhaps you appreciate it if the local supermarket stocks Matzohs and Mrs. Adler's Gefilte Fish when Passover comes around.
If I was raising a Jewish family with children I wouldn't want to live in a neighborhood where 99% of the residents put up Christmas lights and Santa Claus and nativity scenes. I am guessing it would be nicer for the kids in that family to have friends that are also non-Christian even if they're Buddhist or Hindu.
Just my two cents.

Legitimate question (and I'd love to hear your answer).
According to the Pittsburgh Jewish population survey someone posted, there are an estimated 5,000 Jews in the North Hills/Fox Chapel. Obviously, they don't ALL live in and around the borough, but I don't think they're scattered all over either.
The North Allegheny area has a surprisingly low Jewish population, and I don't think greater Sewickley is known for its Jews either. You can pretty much count out Ross and Shaler, along with the river towns. I know a few Jews from Hampton, and there's a synagogue in Allison Park, so they probably at least have a modest population. I have no idea about Pine-Richland.
There are 28,727 people living in the Fox Chapel Area School District. I doubt many Jews live in Blawnox or Sharpsburg, so let's subtract them from our grand total. That leaves us with 23,849.
Let's say half of the North Hills Jews live in the Fox Chapel Area. That makes the "wealthy core" 10.5% Jewish, while the District as a whole is 8.7% Jewish. It's a far cry from my my hometown, which was about 1/3, but it's a big enough presence (and there is zero dispute that it's a growing presence) that it would be more than sufficient to meet my needs.
And answer me this: if there are so few Jews in Fox Chapel, why does the school district give off for the Jewish high holidays?
I'm genuinely interested as to what you think (along with anyone else who wants to chime in). I won't attack your integrity if you can answer this question without resorting to stereotypes and near-epithets.
