Hi, we are (finally!) moving to Pittsburgh. I'm a nurse, and enjoy working in a nursing home since you can develop relationships with residents. Does anyone have any recommendations for or against a nursing home that you would be willing to share? I'm looking for a place that gives good care and where the residents and staff seem happy. I've worked in a skilled nursing home with short term rehab patients for the past three years, and would like to stay in that environment.

Thanks,

e

Yes. I've delivered there before for my primary employer, and the residents (and staff) both seemed to be generally friendly and happy whereas in some nursing homes you get the sense that residents are just waiting for death while staff is just waiting for payday.

Ditto the Longwood at Oakmont recommendation, but also look at the other facilities operated by the same organization; Presbyterian Seniorcare. Longwood at Oakmont is just one of their facilities.

My aunt is now deceased, but she was out at St. Barnabas out in Gibsonia for years and really seemed to like it out there.
