Really, Pittsburgh doesn't have an inferiority complex or identity crisis with Philly. Philly's influence just isn't there. Pittsburgh isn't in anyone's shadow.

Possibilities for name changes in the City:
West End (potentially confusing since we also use the ""West End"" to refer to the side of the city west of the point, maybe we call it Lower Elliot or ""East Versaillies"")
Mexican War Streets (gives a misleading reputation, maybe the city chould change them to Central Northside or call the War Streets ""Lower Allegheny"")
Manchester (sounds to proper, maybe ""Alegheny Flats"" is a better name"")
All the names for the street signs Perry South like the signs that say Charles St Valley, Perry South, Perry Central (kinda confusing for parts of one neighborhoods)
All names on the the street signs that say Lincoln-Larimer (Larimer & Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar are two separate neighborhoods and it would be easyer to keep it that)
Fairywood (gives a misleading reputation maybe the city chould change it to something like ""Greenwood"")
Mt Oliver (it's proximity to Mt. Oliver PA makes it kinda confusing, maybe the city could change it to Mt. Olive)
St. Clair (empty and lifeless now that all the projects have been razed/officially cleared out maybe the city can add it to Mt Olive and can turn it into rooads filled with houses or make it a big waste management area)
Tarrace Village (soon there will be no project housing so maybe we can chang the name to ""Crawford's Hill"" or even ""Lower Hill"" or something)
Bluff should be Soho 'cuz it sounds coo'!!!

I heard William Pitt was a social schmoozer with evil alterior motives.

Something along those lines.

I'd rename it something that showcases its amazing topography and streets and old houses, the reasons it's my favorite city in the US. Although it's impossible to say all that in a one word name.

Allegheny is the North Side's true name and Pittsburgh can't have it.
