I third the Saturday Morning in the Strip recommendation -- don't miss Penn Mac, Sunseris, and Stamoolis -- wacky crazy chaos! Prestogeorge has an old-time coffee-roaster for right-now fresh coffee beans. Wholey's seafood is always fun, and there's a HUGE Asian grocery just south of Wholey's that has an amazing selection of cans you can't read and wacky Japanese snacks. For a snack, stop in Enrico's Biscotti -- they have more than just biscotti. While you're down there, stop in the super-funky Leaf and Bean coffeehouse at about 24th and Penn.
If you like meat, you gotta go to Tessaro's in Bloomfield. The burgers are amazing, as are the ribs, but you can only get them on Thursday I think. Closed on Sundays though. In that same part of town, I highly recommend Tram's Kitchen at 39th and Penn if you like Vietnamese food. Best things IMO: fresh spring rolls, vegetarian mixed vegetables, and vermicelli with coconut milk.
