Yep, Jerry's Curb Service in Bridgewater. He also built a Bruster's Ice Cream right next to it. It's a really nice place now.

Now Bridgewater can't be far from Chippewa, can it? Because we didn't drive far to get there.
Jerry's is an old, old place. My dad used to go there when he was in high school, I think. As I did, when I was in high school during the administration of Abraham Lincoln. No, it's not too far from Chippewa. Both are in Beaver Co, Rte 51 goes to both places.

Yeah, I remember getting a mini- history lesson before we drove-up. I really did enjoy myself, wouldn't mind going back, but I had nothing else up there at all except him. It's a little bit of a hike for a burger :P

My hubby took me to Jimmy's - sorry, wrong about that - it's Jerry's Drive-In in Bridgewater with the Dorsey-Burger - anyway, hubby took me there a couple of years ago when we were dating. I can't remember what I had, but it was good.

It'd be nice to go on a cruise nite. Another great place is the Back Door Tavern in Bridgewater, for their HUGE sandwiches.

blessings, Shen
I'll have to smack Brent -- he didn't know about that... but he went to Jerry's for the fried 'shrooms. The man loves his fried mushrooms...

Default Beaver Falls?

thanks guys -
So, now it looks like he'll just be working in Ellwood City - we've decided to get a starter house- so what areas in the Beaver Falls/North Sewickley are decent (value won't dramatically decrease in next 10 years)?

I would stay out of Beaver Falls proper. Just my opinion. There are a lot of nice homes in the BF suburbs: Patterson Hts, Patterson Twp, White Twp, Chippewa Twp. All would have starter homes. When I was a kid, we lived in Patterson Hts and my dad worked in Ellwood City.

I live in North Sewickley Twp - very nice area, check out the zip code 16117 and 15010 for North Sewickley - but stay in the Riverside School District and not Beaver Falls. Better school district, nicer area - altho there are nice areas in Beaver Falls, such as up on College Hill by Geneva College, Patterson Heights and Chippewa. But Chippewa became over-priced during the big housing boom. There's a real nice 1950's ranch home I spotted, for sale on Chapel Road in North Sewickley $159k - but if you're looking for cheaper, I highly advise Ellwood City or College Hill in Beaver Falls.

Ellwood City does have some nice homes, plus you have the cheaper taxes in Lawrence County. Just depends on what you're looking for.

Zipcodes 16117 and 15010. Stay out of lower Beaver Falls, tho - it's going down, down, down - sad to say and sad to see. While neighboring New Brighton is going up, up, up. Same county - Beaver - but far nicer area.

Ellwood City is at the beginning edge of a boom, too - so this would be a good time to get in.

Why? Cranberry and Warrendale are growing, plus Westinghouse & subsidiaries are putting in their roots there - they're expecting about 13k new people coming in for new jobs in the next 3 years, so the neighboring areas will become part of that outgrowth in housing and jobs.

blessings, Shen

I live outside Ellwood almost to Zelienople and I like it. No crime, close to Pittsburgh (about 45 mins) and half hour to the Pgh airport. Cranberry is kinda crazy. Mars and Seven Fields all new housing and with Westinghouse coming, it'll be in short supply. Ellwood is an established community with its own identity, downtown (not great) but revitalizing, new library, a good remodeled hospital, good schools. If Zelie, kids must go to trouble-prone huge Seneca Valley.

Also check out Grove City it is a dry town no bars just a couple distributors, the houses are reasonable the town is quiet and there is hospital, shopping at the Grove City outlet mall plus in town and lots of restaurants(Chain and independents) it is near the heart of Amish country of western PA plus the schools are decent and you and your hubby will have about the same commuting time to Pittsburgh is about 45 minutes to an hour and New Castle is about 30 minutes and alot of beautiful homes, now another one to check out is Slippery Rock that is a college town also but has some real nice homes there and is an easy commute to either New Castle or Pittsburgh (just south thru Butler).
Now you can easily get a nice house in either place for under 100k easily with lots of floorspace and yards, this is a great place to raise kids and peaceful on your days off plus there is alot for the kids to do and you may never want to leave.
Good luck hoped this helps

Grove City has a bar called the Blue Ribbon Tavern, opened about 2 years ago. Rednecks during the day, college boys after 8 PM.

A great little town.
