Thank you so much for your replies! Like Tracy said, it is so hard when you are trying to do this hundreds of miles away with so many things to consider! We are hoping to visit the middle of February and are glad we can narrow things down now. We will check out Murrysville now too!

What does anyone have to say about Penn. We found a house there that we really like but don't know much about the area. Is it a decent area? We are looking for a big OLD home and would prefer it to sit on at the very least a half acre. I've found that difficult to find right in the Greensburg area, we are looking around the outskirts also. I appreciate all of your input, it really helps a lot.

Do you mean Penn Township? You could definitely find a home with at least a 1/2 acre somewhere in Penn Twp. It is a big area much like Hempfield Township with a pretty large but nice school district. The only town/city in Westmoreland County that you may want or may not want to avoid would be Jeannette. Some people like Jeannette while others think it is terrible. I have hope for Jeannette and like the little city and it certainly has seen it's share of rough times.

Jeannette is also right next to Penn Township so you may in fact be looking at a Jeannette address while actually the house is located in Penn Township. So it can be tricky looking at real estate in that area but if you want to be certain if it is Penn or Jeannette look at what school district for the address. Penn Trafford is the SD for Penn Township while Jeannette City SD would be the city of Jeannette. Harrison City, Manor, and other towns are also Penn Twp. Hope this helps you out.
