Yeah. Those are the old buses. Most buses in use today are very different. They come in several different shades of green (at least three), blue (at least four), gold, red, and purple.

Is it me or is that bus about to tip over?

Yup, but we still have some of the oldies on the streets today.

I need to start a thread with some screenshots of those older films just show how Pittsburgh look back in the day. It doesn't look all that much different and I kinda like that.

I don't know if it's so much what we have as far as shopping habits, it's what we don't have. Look at Nordtrom's it took us how long to get one in our area? There are other stores that I hear about that we haven't gotten in our area yet. The same goes for restaraunt chains as well as certain cuisines.
I guess it depends on the area of Pittsurgh that you are from. I was raised on the East End and we managed to stay up on the latest trends. I always thought the Southside and West End was a bit behind when it comes to fashion.

Most cities do not have a Nordstrom. The Nordstrom that we do have seems to be packed with polished Pittsburghers. Pittsburgh does not need alot of the restaurant chains. The food is not that great anyway.

While you may not like it, I may like to try some and who knows I may like it. I won't know until I try it. The selection here is very limited and we haven't had anything new come in our area for a while.

I'm pretty sure that with the recent delivery of the new accordion buses, those old ones are now completely retired.

One could equally argue that having a plethora of chain restuarants is behind the times.

I never really saw Pgh as being behind the times considering its size. Yea, some of the people may from a different era in both positive & negative ways, but that exists everywhere. Yes it lacks things because of the size of its population & the fact that it's no tourist destination but when compared to like cities i see nothing placing it in the past.
I also don't think using music examples that one considers hip but not popular here is indicative of anything as music tastes vary everywhere, plus normal mainstream current stuff is as popular here as anywhere. I mean, 'The Calling' was in the UK top 40 for the week when I was there last not that long ago & the band doesn't even exist anymore but I don't think that would indicate London was backwards.

Music is just one aspect of it. I mention Arcade Fire because they won a Grammy for Best Album this year. They are pretty popular with the young crowd elsewhere in cities that have more of a hip, progressive vibe (Potland, Austin, New York, even Columbus.) Pittsburgh's young crowd isn't that big. There are more older people here. Our "alternative" station (The X) hasn't updated thier format in years (same is said for WDVE.)

The band The Calling never made it here (in the states) either.

But Pittsburgh did have stores like Ikea, Sephora, and H&M before a lot of other cities did.
