It hardly ever snows in this city and when it does it melts within a week.
I said major American cities, brah.

Look back a few pages. Of the nation's 100 largest cities, Pittsburgh is the 12th-snowiest.

Some of those places are so small, I don't even know their names. Bet a lot of them are in each other's SMSA.

Today is a great example of lake effect snow too. The western suburbs and the south hills have been getting hammered by persistent lake effect snow bands, while those just east of the city have not seen as much snow. I went out for lunch about an hour ago, and there were whiteout conditions in Robinson.

The snow is getting more widespread this afternoon, but the heavy snow band in the morning was literally no more than 2 miles wide and just planted itself on a line from about the airport to Bethel Park.

We just have a dusting. It will be gone by Thursday and back to the rain again.

Facts sometimes hurt a big, but it isn't the end of the world.
The local news media doesn't help, they get all excited and hot and bothered for snow. A forecast of 1-3 inches makes the top story of the news with field reporters out to report back on the conditions, constant weather checks, and teasers such as "A snowy blast in on its way overnight. Tune in with us at 5AM to check your commute!" Ugh

It is hyped up to the point everyone is running around scared to death. I don't watch it anymore. Being a skier, I just get tired of snow referred to as "bad weather". Total opposite to what the weathermen say out west. The call it a good snow!

But what's good for skiing isn't necessarily good for getting home on a twisty, hilly road.

Guess I don't worry about it since I drive an AWD European Sports Sedan.

Sorry, I had to mess with ya. Relax, there are probably only about 4-6 days a year of weather that could be an issue driving. There are 365 days a year give or take. Not really a big deal. Go to a local bar and have a drink to wait it out.

I will say that despite how much people may b*tch and moan about the weather, the city does seem to do a fairly decent job with regard to snow removal, at least compared to Philadelphia.
