I too hope this goes somewhere.

Too bad the people don't have the power to say, "get your sh*t together or we're kicking you both out of town for destroying our healthcare".

This may be what it takes to get an agreement, although I suspect the hope is this will scare them back to the table "voluntarily".

What I don't understand is how the insurance department is able to constantly allow the insurance companies to raise rates. I thought they had to get approval from the Department of Insurance to raise them.

I'm sure hospital contract negotiations make it difficult to keep insurance rates down. I think healthy competition will help in the long run. Time to get rid of the UPMC monopoly.

I hope something comes of this. I don't know about anyone else, but I am sick of those UPMC commercials with Patrice King Brown doing the speak over! You're not waiting for a response from Highmark UPMC, becuase you already said you won't talk to them anymore!

With the way UPMC charges, they can run ads everyday forever and it is pennies. $3500 for an MRI!!!!! Go to an MRI place and it is $350. Nice job UPMC. I wish we had better!

Me too. Also another note about the UPMC ads, just look up Patrice and UPMC and there are quite a few letters to the editor that condemn her taking part in it and what their ads say in general.

Oh dear god....

When I got deathly ill last year and had surgery a lot was not covered under them. I paid $7000 out of pocket. As much as I hate UPMC as a company, their insurance has been far better than Health America's.
