From Jan. thru March 2012 Megabus will be offering 200,000 free tickets. The article also mentions that the Northeast is considered a "top value destination" because of the walkability of cities like Pittsburgh.

It looks like all the tickets are gone already, I tried booking a trip to both D.C. and Philly and am not seeing the free tickets (although they still seem discounted compared to normal)

And I'll probably head your way to NYC for a weekend in Jan. to include Madame Tussaud's. Looks like fun in The Big Apple!

Oh No! Oh well they're still pretty cheap at regular price. I can always leave for and return from NYC from State College i/o the Burgh because my parents live there.

I also noticed Megabus had expanded service for NYC and DC to/from PIT....Now Philly needs more service atleast an additional AM and Late Night on the TH-M premium travel days.

I actually lied, I reread the article and you need to put in the promotion code to get them for free (D.C. here I come ) Thanks for posting this btw

I put the promotion code in this morning and did not get any free fares from DC to NYC in February, even though it said the promo code was valid. Maybe it is only for certain routes?

btw: I did a r/t from DC to NYC over the Thanksgiving weekend and the bus left 1/2 hour late and 45 minutes late, respectively. That was the first time I experienced them running that late, but hopefully it was just because of the busy weekend and busy route. When I went from DC to Pittsburgh in September they left right on time. Another odd thing about the DC to NYC trip was the bus driver each way didn't make one announcement the whole trip. Just started the bus, drove it, and dropped us off, not a word. Not that I care, as long as he drives the bus and gets me there safely but still it was odd.

You're welcome! Yeah, I saw it on the early news this am and wanted to share on CD because it could buy a cheap mid-winter getaway for many people who are on a tight budget after the holidays.

Megabus is running routes in the South now too. I can get from Atlanta to the Burgh for $3. ATL to Charlotte, Charlotte, to DC, DC to the Burgh, around 20 hrs total I think.
