I'm at a workplace in Memphis for the week and I found a cubicle that has Steelers stuff plastered all over it. Steeler fans aren't just in Pittsburgh.

There is no list (can't believe I looked).

This is a fun conversation to read. I'm a Pittsburgh native but don't really worry about the Steelers much until the playoffs because then it becomes fun, more interesting, and does a lot for the lcoal economy (whether you like it or not, just think of all the money more stores in the area make becuase of a NFL playoff game) and the Steelers are usually a lock for the playoffs anyway . I may not watch anymore football games or the Superbowl becuase I don't like any of the teams really that are left besides New Orleans or the Giants.

For a second, I thought you were going to say the opposite of who does what after a loss lol.

Steelers Rant:::
Coach Tomlin is a great coach [he's always a probable candidate for coach of the year] I don't want to hear that arrogant bull crap! Same with Dick & Bruce!!! We're a playoff caliber football team and we've played like it through most of the decade! Yet by now they Scouts should be in Island of Somoia looking for some Offensive Tackels/Guards, & and as well as looking for a top 5 Cornerback and looking for a young, quick, talented Line-backer.
Helll sure they picked a few bad plays... And alot of players messed up! Yet on all three phases of football we had injuries. I'm not down about the game, "Jesbow" had God on his side, but: IF Ben didn't fumble on our drive to the redzone in the last seconds of the game we probably would've moved the rock down close enough to hit a chipshot fieldgoal & won...
Oh f***ing well, now: leggo' NO Saints beating Denver Broncos/NE Patriots in the Superbowl!!!

-BTW: Hines just retire now... Quit while your ahead!

Watching WPXI right now and they showed a status update from Ward saying he has no plans on retiring. Just because you could dance a year ago doesn't mean you can play football anymore.

I'm curious, what was the general feeling for the Steelers in Pittsburgh before Chuck Noll came around? Was it more of a baseball town then, given the marked lack of football success?

I can't speak for the earliest days, but I know that fan support for the Steelers in the 1960's wasn't lacking. Granted, the Pirates were more popular at the time, but the Steelers never had any trouble filling Pitt Stadium.

People in western Pennsylvania have always liked football. Remember that the game itself was developed in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio, and the first team with paid players was in Pittsburgh (Allegheny).
