Default Are All Pirate Games On TV?

I noticed this weekend, both Friday and Saturday's games were not on for me out of market and in the Post Gazette they did not mention them being aired.
I wanted to know, do the Pirates have all their games televised and if not
-How many do they get?
-Why not?

If they do not I really find it embarassing that in the 21st century any decent baseball and sports town wouldn't air all of their professional teams games, it would sadly as a Pirate fan support my notion PIT is like DC, a football first and way foremost town with everything besides that irrevlevant or fair weather.
What's the explanation?

Does this occur with the Pens or when did they get all their games aired?

It really doesn't make sense because this is not something exclusive to just afternoon or September games.
I have on the baseball package not gotten many Pirate games this year on Friday nights and other nights in the summer.

There must be no other team in the game that does not have all of their games televised.
As an out of town Pirate fan I really am disappointed that not all games are on the air, to me it shows the sterotype is correct, Pittsburgh is a football only town that doesn't care about baseball.
To not show all their games, come on....who else does that?
What a joke.

Thanks.

I can't answer your question about the Pirates, but I do know that every single Penguin game is aired. If the game is carried nationally by Versus or NBC then there is no local coverage, but the game can obviously be watched. Every other game will be covered by FSN Pittsburgh with the exception of Saturday night games during college football season. Due to FSN college football contracts they must air the NCAA games, so the games are then shown on WB Pittsburgh. Between Versus, NBC, FSN, and WB every Penguin game is shown.

there are plenty of teams that don't air all there games...I would do a little research first. For a fact I know the blackhawks of the nhl show 0 ZERO of there home games as an incentive to bring fans in. the nfl blacks out ALL home games that don't sell out.

for sure there are several nhl teams that do not show all there games...home or away(now not showing your away games is a crime)

the pirates are run like a business ie the pathetic payroll coupled with high ticket prices(and yeah they are high cause they are comparable to winning teams) coupled with the lowest or 2nd lowest payroll and what 15 years of losing?

I believe that it has something to do with fan attendance like football games. I am not sure if this is true for baseball, but I know it is for football. If the Steelers don't sellout at home, then it is not aired here. That of course has never happened. The pens sale out every game too, and are always on tv. I can only assume that this is the case for the sad and horrible Pirates.

Another thing though, Pittsburghers are NOT fairweather fans. If you go around here anywhere, and ask anybody who their favorite baseball team is, it will be the Pirates. Just after more then a decade of losing though, we only go to PNC to see the park anymore.

Detroit has a very loyal following to their sports teams and each year it seems like around 10 or so Tigers games are not on any channels in my area.

Not all of the pirates games are on, but most. I'd say only about a dozen do not get aired. It has a lot to do with some other local networks paying for exclusive rights to games, ect. Also, not all the games are in HD, which stinks. I presume if a miracle happened and the buccos became noteworthy again, than all of the games would be aired much like the pens games are. Then again, the way baseball is, maybe not.

It has a lot to do with attendance. Pittsburgh isn't really a baseball town.

why wouldn't a "good" mlb market not show there games? pitt is steelers country....if the marketed warranted that sort of coverage it would be there. Plenty of teams don't do all there games...you asked the question you do the math?
