Has anyone heard any details about this project? Like where it is supposed to be located and who is financing it? I am guessing that it's in the South Side since you can clearly make out the Birmingham Bridge in the background of one of the renderings:

Paul Rodriguez Architect

Seems like a good guess. Isn't that what the Southside used to be called?

Yes, I believe it was called New Birmingham or something. I wonder why there is no information on the internet about this yet besides the drawing on the architect's site.

Sort of.

Birmingham Borough occupied the portion of South Side between S. 6th and S.17th Streets, and the upper tracks and the river.

To the east of Birmingham was East Birmingham from S. 17th to S. 27th Street.

A good place to keep it.

Thanks.

Real estate guy Howard "Chip" Berger arranged for Birmingham Lofts to be built on a parcel he owned at 2139 Wharton Street (across from Ruggers Pub at South 22nd Street). However, he recently sold the property to "Ponte Vista Lofts LLC" which appears to be a special purpose entity of Sota Construction Services. Is the project still alive? Did its name change to Ponte Vista Lofts? I don't know.

It wouldn't have been the first Birmingham Lofts on the South Side — Berger used the same name for a building he owned at 24 South 18th Street in the late 1980s and early '90s. The first floor was used as an art gallery and concert/performance venue. Rusted Root played there a few times.

Gotta love this forum. There is always someone with obscure inside info about some pittsburgh related project.

Thanks!

Edit: That's the place, right where those ugly one story buildings are congregated. I hope this gets built because this project would be a massive improvement for that end of the block: Map
