Make that unemployed people from any group who don't want more than a part-time job but expect to live well. A handful of people like that is cool, but if you turn into the next Portland and draw a flood of them, problems can arise. Why bring that upon yourselves?

while I'm very glad you approve of my job, what you continue to miss is that 2 people have posted here that they know the person who made the quote, and we are both saying that it is possible to own a home in Pittsburgh on a tips-job, most of which aren't 40+ hours a week.

This may be the first time in the history of this site where people have had no problems with anecdotal evidence.

with the exception of BrianTH's info and RestonRunner's posts which all have police reports to go along with them, this site is nothing but anecodotal evidence.

In b4 we're all called out Hulk Hogan style on another forum while an epic circlejerk commences.

LOL since this thread seems to be at the end, I'll throw in a last thought. Even though I find parts of that article difficult to believe, the bottom line is I was mostly just having fun with a debate. I'm just a visitor to your city--so what do I know? I had some friends who were house hunting there last year and were disappointed, but maybe they weren't looking in the right parts of town. If houses are really that inexpensive, all I can say is: cool!

guyz pittsburgh is cool right i wana tell all my pals here to move there so they can be hep too... i mean i heard since hip is out and hep is in which means pittsburgh is just plain cool because its hepness overrode the portlandia hepcatness... THIS IS WHAT I HEAR ON THIS FORUM SO I WANT TO CLARIFY.

Oh, and just so you guys know, your stereotypical personification of "hipsters" are actually young artistic and creative people who have completely turned around and gentrified neighborhoods already in the larger cities starting in the early 90's and continuing on to today. Talk about NOT being "hip" (just a retarded word in general unless you are talking anatomically), maybe Yinzers should begin to embrace more counterculture and diversity...maybe that way we can attempt to be on Cleveland's level when it comes to at least the music scene. Young people full of ideas and questions are just awful, look what they did to neighborhoods like Wicker Park in Chicago and Northern Liberties in Philly. It's not like those places became prime neighborhoods teeming with art, culture, great food, beautiful homes and urban life...oh wait...
