I believe, if I'm not mistaken, it is the worlds third largest museum collection of dinosaurs. Andrew Carnegie had a paricular love for them and invested a lot of money in it.
I just saw that about them reconstructing it. Good for them.

You just had to break the truce. This is so unfortunate. This is so unnessesary.
I didn't know that no one was allowed to post on this topic anymore. I didn't notice the thread was closed. That's the way this forum is. Everyone is entitled to post their opinions. Whatever "truce" was going on did not involve me.

I have been to Cleveland, which it honestly sounds like you haven't. You keep writing about Erie. This thread is not about Erie.

Update: I found listings, but I really don't feel like paying $25-75 just so I can dance in the endzone. I can tell you that the Carnegie Art Museum has a higher annual attendence 860,000 as compared to Cleveland's 630,000. That's significant, but other factors could account for that.

Okay as for other things I was able to find:

Cleveland is apparently more environmentally friendly than Pittsburgh. If that means anything at all.

US City Sustainability Ranking - SustainLane.com

Pittsburgh is the is the 18th "Smartest" City in America, according to CNN Money. No Ohio cities even made the list.

America's smartest cities - Aug. 31, 2006

The Carnegie Art Museum is the 5th Most Family Friendly in the US, up there with some pretty prestigious places that you wouldn't think of as being "kiddy" museums. Again, I don't know what that's worth but...

Magazine ranks Pittsburgh art museum among nation's top five - Pittsburgh Business Times:

The Arcitectural exibit at the Museum is the 3rd Largest in the world.

(wiki it)

It would seem that the Cleveland Museum is, generally, the more regarded of the two Art Museums, but Pittsburgh also has the Andy Warhol Museum.

I think it is safe to say that the Carnegie Natural History Museum is much more highly regarded.

Oh, calm down. I still love you. I'm leaving it for the origional poster to address. We'll see if he/she knows how to find the proof.
Nope... where is it?

Calm down, it was just a joke. You have obviously never seen The Godfather... and I was refering to the fact that Ohiogurl and I were no longer arguing.

Here we go again... someone is doubting what I am saying. I assure you, I have been there many times. The reason I was writting about Erie is because my geogrphical expirience of the two was not that much different, which would make sense since they are both cities on the South Shore of Lake Erie... and not too far from one another.

I don't know what to tell you about the topography, other than "It has been my expireience...."

Why wouldn't it mean anything? I have found recycling, etc to be not terribly popular in Pgh. I haven't been to Cleveland for a long time.

As I said, I was playing a bit of Devil's Advocate. Pittsburghers are fond of saying that their (fill in the blank) is the greatest in the world, maybe even the known universes, w/o much support. Some of it is true; some of it isn't. I am very familiar with this as my father was one of those Pittsburgh boosters.

All bull**** aside... clealry, whatever both cities have to offer is, taken as a whole, more or less on par if they tied for most livable.

I'll be blunt... I'm not an art critic. I know the Carnegie NHM is a top ranked museum globally and I have almost never seen the Celevland Museum even referenced. I know the theater in Pittsburgh is very well funded, and top ranked int he country. Again, I am sure Clevelands isn't bad, but I have never heard much about it... and I do know something about drama and theater.

I know PNC is the top ranked ballpark in the country according to numerous sources (including SI).

I know that Pittsburgh is a better University town, which is typically a huge boost to the culture of any area.

I know that the research labs are world renown.

I was posting my comments with friendly intent. Like I said, lists are hard to come by, and who really cares, because they are still subjective.

Anyway, like I said, I am not gonna do a ton of research just so I can dance in the endzone. Like you said, this is a forum not a research paper. Had I know I needed a doctorate before I opened my mouth, I wouldn't have.

Though it is not necessarily true that b/c they are close, they are much alike. The glaciers did strange things.

Coors Field is better, J/K! And no, one does not need a doctorate, but it's nice to back up one's facts with more than just "I know this".

But, what I had said about Cleveland was based off of direct expirience. I was merely saying that the topography in Cleveland reminds me a lot of what I saw in Erie, thus the comparison. Plus, I looked at a topigraphical map that confirmed what I had thought.

Like I said, I was just providing what I knew... I don't think anyone else here really went to fetch hard-core details. It's not big deal, I just realyl wasn't expecting to be seriously challenged.

OK, truce, huh? BTW, I did see The Godfather, probably before you were born. Also read the book. Just don't remember that reference. Have a nice day!

A wee little side note.

Here is a news article on the INCREDIBLE thing I mentioned before about burning salt water for fuel. You won't even believe it! Rock on PA.

KickingTires: New Fuel: Saltwater?
