Sarris chocolate covered pretzels are the best - thank goodness they're safe and the company will resume full operations soon

I'm glad the fire, wasn't so bad that the company would have had to consider never reopening. That would have been the loss of a great asset and business in the region.

A bit more writeup on KDKA now if anyone's interested in more detail: Landmark Candy Company Damaged By Fire « CBS Pittsburgh

Basically, delivery is still working like usual and the shop could be open again as soon as sometime next week.

Gotta be a relief. I mean, what's the worst thing you can think of if you own a business like this? Fire is definitely near the top.

Funny that the article mentions seeing smoke for miles around. Looking directly south on I-79 by the Wexford exit today I was pointing out a plume of white smoke that I'm pretty certain is not from any regular source in that direction. I wonder if that really was from the fire? Seems unlikely, gotta be 20-25 miles or so from there....

I'm a fan of WPXI on Facebook and just saw this posted on my wall.
Quote:
Dave Bondy reports new information about Sarris Candy fire. "The owner just said the ice cream parlor part of the restaurant could be closed for months--- the side of the store where they sell the candy will be open in no later than two weeks." Dave also has pictures the owner gave him from inside the store you'll see those on our 5 o'clock news."

Gonna be a few weeks for the store to reopen:

Sarris retail store to reopen within 30 days

But orders and deliveries to everywhere else will be unaffected. Plenty of other places in the area to buy Sarris.
