The "style" (full formal title with all the bells and whistles) changed to "Northern Ireland" a year later. When EII was proclaimed queen, the style still included Ireland, in the same way that British sovereigns remained kings of France (in name) until 1801 even though it was purely diplomatic fiction for four hundred years.
