First the Johnny Gammage incident and now a racist basketball game, what are those parents teaching their kids?

Pretty self explanatory.

This is not anything new. Brentwood has always had a racist element. The sad part is that they try to deny it.

Brentwood is a stone's throw to where I used to live. There was the famous Johnny Gammage case. There was a KKK rally by their library in the 90's. There's this incident. There's rumors of cross burnings in yards back in the day too but I never saw any of those.

My stepfathers brother, Rennie Stennett (former all star pittsburgh pirate) claims this was one of the most racist communities while living there in the 1970's. Most black people with long ties to the Pittsburgh area are familiar with Brentwood. We knew the police were racist well before the Johnny Gammage murder.

This isn't surprising and its not anything new. I remember back in the mid 80's, when I went to Wilkinsburg, and we would play Brentwood in basketball, being called N***GERS, when we would go out on the court to do our cheers during time-outs. Brentwood and Sto-Rox were the worst. Anyway, this sure has been kept mighty quiet, until today. I don't recall any of the local news stations reporting this.

I think it would be worse if they embraced it... just saying... Even though all this going down is disgusting... I don't get it... Brentwood has always given me a bad vibe.... It's like 5 minutes outside of the city I don't understand where this backwoods hick behavoir comes from... Brentwood and Carrick are like the same to me... I don't even think of Brentwood as an upper class area.

Sto-Rox used to be like this too? Interesting considering the school demographics.
